If any PB hears of this they will get the idea to make G3 a jump&run game .

Shivers up his spine anyone?

Good idea but for JoWood technical impossible...

Because there would be some *money/time* issues but if you think it a little much dipper our heroe can take a sit inside taverns sleep with whores at the bordels and other stuffs but sleeping regards some other thinks like regenarating life&mana so more compicated to desing.
lol also why sleeping with a women/whore doesnt regenerates your mana?
and lesses your life?suppose to be spirit upgrade and body fatigue.....!!!!!

I like Sir Marcus's idea. The "random attacks" thing, though, doesn't seem to be Gothic's style, if you know what I mean. For the most part, Gothic seems intensely scripted - monsters and NPC's wander on set paths, lots of triggered spawns or quests, basically linear storyline. I think that you should only be able to rest in the middle of the forest if you've killed all the monsters in a certain radius of your character. Setting up camp in the back of an empty cave, though, would be less of a problem. You should just have to clear the area around it, so you couldn't, say, run past an orc into a cave and sleep real quick to get him off your back.

Camping in caves seems good to me also. After you've cleared the area, you have a nice, safe shelter.

sounds nice but it would be difficult still a little bit i mean lets say u cleared the area right and after that u set up ur camp and go to sleep to boost ur health to full again well now comes an itch eather after u cleared the area nobody will disturb ur sleep and everything will go ok but then again it would be too boring or some orc will pass by and say hallo sometimes or lets say some molerat but then again the camp sleeping would be a bonus to get extra EXP points to get more skills if u know what i mean. Both ways are still pretty sucky

Deadalus I think you lost the main point.Isnt this a matter about healing cause healing potions, healing runes and sleeping inside camps are good enough. The point of sleeping outside in the wilderness is the FEELING it gives you.As a hutner take a nap under the trees during the night. As an Orc-slayer sleep inside caves and let your self to rest as you hear the wind blowing through the cave's entrance. As a HEROE to be more independant and sleep wherever/whenever you want. Its all about the feeling. The whole Gothic games is the most times about the feeling it gives you.Take for example Gothic 1 as a Novice:smoke a green novice by the swamp, listen to the methistic music of the Sect Camp or dreaming about The Free Land(outside barrier land or Land of the Kings or Land of the city of Korinis)while you are pumping the pipe.
I hope you will understand.
And remember :DONT fly to high or else your wings might be melted by the Sun.(Greek mythology:Deadalos&Ikaros).

tents and bedrolls would be nice but building a hut in the wilderness isnt that good but climbing trees brings back some memories from gothic 1 (in a way anyhow) anyone remember the big boulder in the troll canyon?

LOL

Anyway, the bedrolls and sleeping in trees, thats a good idea. Even if they gave you the ability to challenge a beast to its cave/lair. If you win you get to place torches or something to ward off animals. Anything to stop me from running from the deppest part of the woods allllll the way back to town just to get some shut eye. Teleport runes are good but I always feel like Im missing something critical that I would have seen if I was walking/running.

Building huts?
Huts?
Dude I killed the Sleeper and Beliars Dragon, I'll be damned if I spend my nights in some hut, like some Prison Colony digger! There should have been Chapter 7 in Gothic two where you come back to a damn 4 level castle they built just for me (and all my gold!)
