Does power-skilling ruin the game?

After power skilling a Bishop I began to wonder if casting spells like knock-knock on locks or charm on an NPC to gain skills quickly wasn't unbalancing and spoiling the fun of Wizardry.
What are your opinions?

Spell training is a legit part of the game. How much you do is completely up to you. While doing it a lot can unbalance the game some, I'm not sure it would ruin things.

For my part, I limit my spell training to always keeping every available buff spell going (even though some aren't terribly useful). When faced with a lock or an NPC, I'll cast one knock/charm/whatever spell whether I really need to or not.

If you're willing to spend an hour casting hundreds of knock spells at the bank vault door, I guess you should be rewarded with skill boosts. While I'm psycho about character development, I'm not much of a power gamer, so I'd rather spend that hour exploring, killing things, and advancing the storyline. That's just me, though.

I'm on my second play through the game, and I'm power-training some of my skills for the first time. I havn't progressed very far yet, but I havn't noticed any adverse effects. I'm enjoying the game just as much this time as I did last time.

In fact, I think I like my characters a little more this time. I'm a university student, so when I spend a few hours doing some extra studying, I feel pleased with myself. In much the same way, I feel pleased with my characters because I spent extra time to improve their skills.

I do not think spell-training can ruin this game.
It is good and balanced part of whole character developement thing.
It is as it should be. If you train certain spell, you are better in this spell. It works as it works in normal lilfe.
