Asghan is the man who says you to get him TWO or THREE templars so it works in both ways with 2 or 3 templars.I faced the same bug back there.
The only thing it worked for me (without marvin mode or cheats) it was to load a previus game.My previus game was before gathering the templars.

He said two or three but that doesn't necessarily mean that's coded in the game.

I saved before I tried to turn the winch. Tried loading but still jammed. I can get console open and use other triggers such as the handy clock. Those triggers just didnt work.

Never did the quest with less than three, so never ran into the bug, sorry.

Strange. I opened and closed this gate more than once with the console two years ago.
Did you also type the underscores? Some people canīt find it and replace it with space.



If it doesnīt open activate god mode and teleport through the gate. F8 in Marvin mode resets scripts and readjusts to ground level.

The game code flag to set this winch active is to have the masher thumping
and the three templars ready. You have done this - - yes?

Aye, all the requirements were met. The problem was with my keyboard or something. "Y" and "Z" were switched, along with a few others including underscore. I managed to fool around with them and get the zTrigger to work. Thanks alot guys.

i cant get the templer to talk to me the one who is talking to the no name templer standing in front of the cave grrr i have the other two what do i need to do to get the 3rd one ?????

hi im having trouble getting the 3rd templer to stand in front of the gate at the old mine he wont talk to me just says end the one thats talking to the no name at the tunnel b4 u get to the other two weird huh im going to do the k to teleport in wish me luck ill post u all about it hehehe

Hey there humdinger, welcome to the forums.

To complete this winch quest there are several things to do.

1. DO NOT TOUCH THE WINCH!

2. You must talk to Ian and find about a nest etc' he will tell you to find a missing cogwheel, some where in the mine.

3. When you have the cogwheel take it to Ian & he will give you a password.

4. Tell the templars Gor na bar, Gor na kosh & Gor na vid to help,
one of them WILL ASK FOR A HEALTH POTION, give it to him.

5. when you go back to Aghan, the Masher should be stomping, the three
templars should be waiting ready.

6. Talk to Asghan, if he opens the winch, then SAVE THE GAME NOW.
the templars should do the work but you will join in ?

I don't think Asghan opens the winch. He said it's okay to open it, and you have to open it yourself.

Hey there Joeman,

Yes that's right, what i meant was once Asghan receives the password off
you, HE allows the winch to be used.

I am very uncertain if this well documented winch bug is a "bug" because
i have tried several times to "enable" the bug, but i cannot, provided that
the correct sequence followed.

Upon entering the mine i have immediately gone straight to the winch and
"used" it (so as to enable the bug) but yet on every occasion, by doing the
correct sequence, it Has automatically worked o.k. afterwards.

No no no no ... That's not the point here guys! The point is that you CAN open the gate with only 2 Templers BUT the problem is that some winches jams if you grab them without turning them, so just a little hint here ... Don't ever grab a winch without turning it and also be sure that you even can turn it. (For the first posters)

Oh dear good we have a Necromancer over Gothic1 boards!
Not that this thread isnt to be closed but how to be sure if you can turn a switch if you dont first grab it and try to turn it?

Because that in Gothic 1 you have to press CTRL + the forward button to turn the winch, and if you not do so the winch might jam! You could try to go to the mine find the 3 Templers and then get permission to open. Go to the winch and press CTRL, then the Hero will grab the winch but not turn it and then you simply go away from the winch again and next time you wanna turn it it's jammed!
