Lord of the Rings Module

A guy at a forum said he was going to learn to use the NWN editor and make a Lord of the Rings module, i think its a cool idea! Have anyone else tried to make a LotR module?

There's quite lengthly discussion of LOTR module on official forum few weeks ago, but there's something about legal/copyright issues. If it doable i'm quite sure someone will come out with it someday.

Yeah, I didn't think about the copyrigth stuff, once at a Arcanum forum they discussed to make a Fallout 3 module, but they could not do it becouse of the copyright on names and such...

So call it Fallin 3 module. Everybody will know what you're talking about and the trademark will not apply.

Im making an LotR module, i don't know any scripting so it will not be real mod, but its fun to create.

Anyway, its called Lord of the Rings - Beta 0.01

Maybe i will learn how to do some scripting, but right now there is only a forest path leading to the Shire, but the road is taken by a gang of bandits, interesting, huh?

well i admire your ambitiousness, and i wish you luck, it sounds like it could be genuinely cool.

but i stand by my original statement.

Well, in my short module-making experience, I found that you don't need extensive scripting to make a good module IF you'll DM that module. If you plan on making it a single player module, then I guess you need to script to make things more interesting. Otherwise, it'll just make the DM work more, which isn't necessarily a bad thing

Yes, i wasn't sure on how the DM thing worked.

Anyway, i think i put this small project down, its useless if you can't use other 3d models and such... i hope someone else makes a LotR module.

Anyway, i will probably put up another module later...

It will happen!

All of you keep your eyes open for good LOTR module or even better the Hobbit! Someone is going to make one for sure even if it violates copyright laws. What if it's someone in Switzerland? Do our copyright laws apply there? Doubtful. Or someone will make it and put it up on an server that has items like that already that violate copyrights. I want to play the Hobbit or LOTR! Stay vigilant and let the rest of us know.

Haven't seen anything released yet. I did see a remake of Ultima 4 in the works though.
