Gothic2 gets the Front Page treatment

Gothic2 is in PC GAMER.

That's more like it.

Go get'em guys!

Quote from a PC magazine (various):
"Gothic1 is an interesting, albeit, plodding RPG that has asperations of greatness, if only you could spare the time with the - disjointed - plot..."

Time to kneel before Pirahna-bytes!!!

Well, the August UK PC Gamer has Warcraft 3 for the front page, so it's probably the American one.

I just flipped though my American copy of PC Gamer August 2002. I didn't see any mention of Gothic 2. So either it isn't there or it's buried in their E3 article somewhere.
However Computer Games did do an article on Gothic 2. Interesting stuff.

It mentions several things that the devs answered. It mentions it will be out this fall. It says those who didn't play Gothic 1 won't have to worry about being lost when it comes to the story in Gothic 2.
There is an interesting bit in here that says: "Our hero wound up in the mines (which had been sealed by a magic barrier) but now the barricade has been broken and the king has sprung him and sent him on a special mission."
That seems to suggest that it was the king who had the hero rescued from the underground temple.
Civil war has erupted and demons are coming in through a portal.
Another interesting bit: "So what's changed? Piranha has quintupled the number of non-player characters and the number of polygons used to represent them, and tripled the size of the environment."
It confirms the almost 50 spells with new effects and about 100-150 weapons. It mentions the three character classes. It also mentions PB fixing the controls and having "familiar mouse-play". It mentions the game is now in beta testing.
So, lots of stuff.

Good to hear all the changes, especially the control system. Also hope there's less bugs and more stable than previous one. We want to be a happy gamer, not the game/beta tester.
