Weird weapon behavior?

Hi. Its my first time playing, everything goes more or less fine. But today i encountered a weird problem.
I've decided to get an Orc Hammer in chapter 1, arrived to a place where Bloodhounds lurks only to find that im not able to kill em. My current weapon (battle sword) does only minimal damage to them. So far my best result was reducing her to about 50% of health before getting killed.
So i uprgaded my str to 30 and equipped Rusty two-hander. Only to found out that now i deal exactly zero damage to them. Any ideas why so?

at this point you propperly not trained in two-handed combat so you have no chance for critical hits ( deals more damage )
and seens bloodhounds are quite strong you'll either need to be more trained or have great str. to kill them

Well, thing is that i damaged hounds with every swing of battle sword, so this could'nt be a critical hit issue. And with two-hander im not damaging them at all! Thats whats is most weird.

As for killing them, i found that longbow works nicely again 'em, although thats requires some save/loading, since i can miss 5 shots in a row, and thats enough for her to come close and whack me

well it can also be a timeing issuse an untrained two-hander it very slow so maybe .. most of the time craturs will block blows but they mostly have their guard down just before and just after they attack ( had lots of prob's just killing lizards before i figurded this out )

Who said that he is in chapter ~1~?
And if he is in chapter ~1~ that means he can reach such places (far places) in low levels so he can find fire balls and other good spells in these areas!

And who said that he don't has alot mana?

Let's say that he has 10 mana ~the minimum~ that means that he can cast a fire ball or some good spells!

Try these..

1. Become a Master with one-handed weapons.

2. Increase your strength alot until you can beat them.

3. Go to the New Camp and go into the "Bar Place" (sort of in the middle of the big lake.) And if the Bouncers stop you, Either "Bribe" him with 100 ore, Or defeat the one to the right. Then walk in, And save. Find "Silas" Defeat him and steal his axe. I think it does 55 damage.

*I highly suggest doing number 1 and number 3.

Good luck.

If this is your best, then take a look:

1. Go to the new camp and knock down all the rouges ~~to get exp~~
2. Go to some hunting trips in the forests between the camps.
3. Steel jackel Axe ~The bone breacker~.
4. Beat all the shadows in the old camp and some of the guards.
5. You can knock dow the merc*s by using the weild Bow till they weild their bows and then you weild your 1hw and start to run to them and attacking them with your weapon while they're aiming at you then you knock them down and get EXP. ~~The cunning way~~
Then you'll have a good amount of skill points which you'll upgrade your NON-magical skills...

What do you say....I've tried this.
