more of a vent than anything...2 hrs of mario jumps, grab the key and meat, unlock the door, and run like hell.... is there anyway at all to skip him? _________________ Think your ready? Turn out the lights, light up your night vision and put a fireball or 3 in reserve ....now your ready! |

You cannot defeat the monster by conventional methods, but thankfully he is not around for all the level to bug you.
You can finish him off in the room where there is a large smelter... Use the lever in the room that opens from here, then come back into the smelter room to activate the other switch that opens the cover of the lava! _________________ You don't know the power of the dark side... |

I loathe jumping puzzles, and the hellhound is probably my least favourite part of the game, but it wasn't too bad. For me, the hardest parts were opening the door with the key before being killed, and then finding where to put the power cell before being killed. It took a few reloads before I finally did it all, but the jumping was the easiest part; did it first time. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Got the jumping on the first try? Good job! It took me many many many attempts and reloads to get through that crap. After the jumping, the rest of the level wasn't so bad. I killed the black beast twice just for the heck of it. The first time I knocked him out and all that. After figuring out how it all worked, I reloaded and hurried along to dunk him in the lava without the masher smasher. _________________ T®îßã£Måñ

I don't know if you ever played the original-pre-patched version of Ultima 8 Pagan, but that soured me on jumping FOREVER!! Ultima 9 wasn't much better in that regard. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Just like in ultima 9, your character in Arx will jump exactly to the destination your target curser (Center of the screen) is aiming at the time you start the jump, provided the jump isn't too long! Keeping that in mind makes jumping easier provided that you can control the viewscreen while running and jumping at the same time. _________________ Moderator on RPGdot.com Forum.
