Once I teleport into Xardas' Tower I have to use another teleport to get out (or use the strafe l/r 'feachur'). Is there an official way of getting out without resorting to a Teleport Rune?

When you're in Xardas' room, turn back and go outside. Climb up the tower opposite. Walk around the rim of its roof, there are many stone spikes. One of those spikes faces a huge cliff with a path below. Walk to the very end of the stone spike and jump so you hit the cliffside; you'll slide down it and land on the path without getting so much than a scratch.
