Arg.. i'm really confused.. i don't know if I should buy it or not.
I can speak german.. it's not that, but i wonder if it will ruin the full experience of the english game.
How many hours do you need to complete it? will it last until the english game comes out?

Think of it this way: Gothic is still playable, and G2 should be better!

Hell yes, Gothic is still playable, and i'm also using the splendid engine to build funny houses of my own. So I'll live, but i'm such an inveterate gothicplayer and my yearn for Gothic II is growing and is beginning to seem more hopeless now that they've pushed back the release.

The fact that i actually like the german language and that Gothic II is just around the corner is very tempting indeed.

well i'm not so into that "english version" thing..
i think there were some organisation problems with the studios,
but i'm not that sure..
perhaps you want to ask the question at www.jowood.com

so long

Hopefully one of our literate German speakers will review this for us as soon as they can ...

That's wonderful news indeed. Gothic 2 is finally done and there'll be definitaly no more delays. Only 18 days 'til I can play a game that's possibly the best RPG to date. Strange how a mere 18 days can seem like half an eternity. All fans of Gothic 2 who have to wait longer for their version have my sympathies. Well, Q1 2003 is a large timeframe. Perhaps your delay is also "just" 6 week like ours. At least, after Nov. 29, you should be able to get all the info about G2 you want.

I'm surprised by your hesitation LaBaN. If the original version of a game, which I want to play very badly, is released considerably earlier than the translated one, and if I like and can speak the language of the original, I'd definitely choose it. Especially because even the best translations are also alterations of the original.

Yes, but there is more to the game than just playing it. Talking about it with my friends and fellow players (who doesn't like german, and will certainly not buy it), is half of the joyment i think.

In that case, I have 3 choises:
Persuade my friends to buy it.
Wait until it is translated.
Don't give a damn, and buy it anyway.

I bet your friends will give up their resistance as soon as they see Gothic 2 running on our computer. No need to further persuade them then. And if all else fails you can still talk to your fellow players on this forum.
