Go to marvin mode, press F2, and type in the cheats.

For a list of cheats, go here.

Marvin mode: type - while playing - 'smarvins' or 'bmarvinb', depending on whether your character stats screen is mapped to 's' or 'b'. Voila, you're in Marvin mode! That's the Gothic cheat mode. There is a list of commands you can try... and with F2 you get the game console where you can insert things and people and screw around with their stats.

No need to do strange things to your .ini file.
