Going Going..Gone.. Horizons the Disaster

Horizons debut at $50USD, within the first month it was reduced to $29, now they are giving a 7 day free trial available on the 16th. The game has been out for three months and it's already beating Asherons Call 2 in being the worst mmoRPG of all time.

Be warned that a 7 day trial might mean you have to give your credit card details to a company on the brink of receivership.

This is what can happen when a company doesn't listen to any of it's beta testers AND doesn't care one whit about releasing a quality product to the market.

It is sad how easily the lies flow from the mouths of Horizons folks. Here is one from the DevChat.

<Trip> Why are bugs that should have been squashed in early-to-mid beta still popping up in the retail release?

Without actual cases I can’t really answer this question. I want to be clear that if an issue gets out to the live shards it is because we did not find it before the push. The sooner it gets highlighted at http://support.istaria.com the sooner we can fix it.

_____________-

As any Horizon's beta tester can testify to - this is a balk faced lie. The list of "Known Issues" that they did NOT bother to fix prior to release is soooo long it would take a full roll of double length toilet tissue to hold them all <g>.

Thats because it was made by executives and business people that think they know what players want, but who are actually very clueless wanna-bes who needed this sort of disaster to happen for them to have a real life wake up call into reality (where the rest of us live). Right now, they are most likely in complete denial that Horizons was a failure. Just like LucasArts thinks "SWG is the most successful MMORPG of all time."

Artifact: "We made it to release day! What a success!"

Horizons: Asherons Call 2 and 1/2 plus Crafting.

really, the only good thing about this game is the crafting system. but its nothing like the "millions of variations" that they had promised for 3 freaking years on their website... they tell fibs... but they didnt get away with it this time..

the Lag in Horizons deserves a capital 'L'...

Consider this:

i am running up a hill. i attack a giant maggot (which is usual). suddenly everything STOPS. i look around and cant seem to understand what is happening at the moment. "must be lag." so i attack. and the maggot attacks me. for minutes. no hit point damage, nothing. then i decide, screw this! so i start running back to town to sell my loot. i am running for about a half a minute. suddenly i am fighting again, back at the maggot, im like "?" so i start running away again. i dont wanna die because of lag to a mere maggot. i am running back to town. i finally get halfway to town but as i am running, it backs up to where i was 10 seconds ago. i cant make any progress because i keep going backwards. FINALLY i get to town. i start selling my stuff. people are talking around me, but i cant see their characters. "hmmph, that sucks," i say aloud. nobody responds because they prolly dont even see the comment. anyway, im at the merchant selling stuff. for like a minute. then all of sudden, everything changes again, AND I AM BACK AT THE FREAKING MAGGOT, GETTING ATTACKED!

thats my experience with Horizons. i hope you now understand what is meant by the term LAG-ERRIFIC !!!

It really is plagued with technical problems. Has to be the worst MMROPG I've ever played.

Same here, and thats a shame, because it was the prettiest MMO I've played. Of course I didnt' play SWG or AC2, or FFXI. The game did have a bit of potential but support and the buggs ruined it.

I was an early beta tester, and the fact that they never once told the truth led me to say NO at retail. Smartest move I have made it seems.

This game is still breathing .....just. I see that one of the moderators on the official forum even turned against it.

Anyone want to give me some odds on it going bust by Q3 ?

Nail in the coffin?

I heard from the IRC community that the producer for Horizons, Steve Snow, has left Artifact. Don't know where he went to, but leaving your game after a few months of release certainly doesn't show much faith in the longevity of the game.

Steve's name has even been removed from the Artifact management portion of their webpage.

Bye bye Horizons!
