Never played Battlespire even though i would have loved to have it, but I never got it here in Germany; I heard it was terrible, though. Still, i would have loved to see that for myself.
Redguard was an adventure, somewhat Gothic-style (same perspective, freedom of action). It was a bit annoying that you could screw up by doing some quests too early (you ruined your time off with that), but otherwise I liked it a lot. A lot of dialogue, and a huge island to explore.

Redguard needs 3Dfx to look good; in software mode it's nowhere near as nice, but it still is a fair adventure game. When I played it I still had my old Voodoo...
Redguard isn't Gothic, but it's okay.

That bites. I don't have a 3dfx card, I have an ATI Radeon. I was keeping an eye out for Redguard too, as per your suggestion, Jaz.

I can't get Daggerfall to run at all, that's the one I'd really like to see before Morrowind.

I have played them all *g*. Arena was great for the times being, but is horribly outdated now. It's nearly impossible to run it on a modern computer, even with moslo. Daggerfall has the same problem - and although it was buggy, it was a great game. Battlespire - well, they took out the interesting parts from Daggerfall, made the area much smaller and worsened the combat system - I think you get my point *g*. Redguard, however, was a loveable game, but it needed a Voodoo and DOS drivers for Soundblaster. I doubt you can run it on modern systems.

I'd say, don't buy them, but instead invest the money n pestering Bethesda to build more games like Morrowind, maybe a full blown plugin
