I'm surprised at how many of you included Daggerfall in your top 10.
One question though... How many of you actually finished it?

I didn't, because I wasn't interested in the main plot. I did play it for a long time, however... |

I got nowhere with the plot in Daggerfall but I really don't care... I had so much fun playing that game. Thief characters were so much fun with the climbing skills so you could climb into upstairs balconys and robbing shopkeepers at night. LOL if I remember right i stopped using the gates in walled citys and just climbed the walls all the time once my climbing skill was high enough. Plus the magical item and spell creation was really cool for Mage characters even though it was extremly buggy. And extreme number of side quests totally was cool even though they distracted me from the main quests.... |

u can't finish Daggerfall - the world is too big.
i have played the complete main plot - 2 month of intensive playing; but i haven't seen many of the secrets of daggerfall until i read about them in the internet some years later. the main plot is fun, but not necessary to enjoy the game.

I'm one of those people that can't stand not to finish an RPG. If I don't complete a game it eats away at me. That's why I never got into Daggerfall back when it first came out after I read that it took around 300 hours on average to complete. After recently
downloading it and playing a little bit, I can say I'm glad I never tried to get into it. It is without a doubt the most poorly published RPG I've ever played. Even after the last patch. It does have have an incredible amount of potential though. It would be great if some company remade it with a good 3D engine and rereleased it without all the bugs. |

I agree. I wonder why noone has started a Daggerfall in Windows remake project, I mean, there are like tens of Ultima remake projects. |

My favorites, not necessarily in order are:
1. Gothic
2. Ultima Underword I and II
3. Ultima 7 AND 7.5
4. Elderscrolls: Daggerfall
5. Elderscrolls: Arena
6. Final Fantasy VII
7. Final Fantasy VIII
8. Baldurs Gate I and II
9. Planescape Torment
10. Deus Ex
Wow, figuring out the top ten is harder than it seems.

If she would have mentioned Ultima Underworld then Gothic wouldn't have made it in the top ten

I don't think that guy has actually played any other CRPG'S. Don't get me wrong, the Ultima series was very good but some of them were much better then others. |

Many top10 were posted before Arcanum was out -
Arcanum is a great one - cool quests interesting story, but the battles are a little bit too easy and boring later in the game, if u play a standard fighter. I did most of the battles alone, and used my group only for carrying stuff. Fallout 1 & 2 were better balanced. Maybe a patch can introduce a better battle difficulty system. |
