Hey just a thought, why not allow for gamepad or joystick compatability for a Gothic II. With minimal keyboard commands used, ctrl and arrows do all acts. alt for jump etc...I think it would be nevr nice to have the option to use a gamepad or joystick. Seems PC game developers forget that this can make the game easier to use whne designing them. besides you can supplement it with occassional keyboard commands if needed.

I for one wish I could use my gamepad for Gothic especially in combat situations.

This is a good idea.
Even Gothic 1 is compatible with a few gamepads. Search the forums for the details.

Agreed~

I think that many people were turned off by Gothic's unfriendly keyboard/mouse commands. That was one of the biggest complaints I've seen in all the reviews.

I think the controls are not bad, there are games that are even worse.
Severense is worsed so far, you need half the key board to control your caracter.

Keyboard+Mouse is a very good control scheme for any game except survival horror or fighting games.

I guess since I started with DOOM many moons ago, I've been partial to keyboard and mouse ever since.

And I think they do a GREAT job in Gothic. Smooth turning, plus easy-to-reach action keys. (Although I customized to use the time-honored WSAD configuration in Gothic.)

Hello Peeps! It's Me Again!

"Ahhhh... Gamepad.... Kill Mud.... Microsoft Sidewinder... Kill Mud..."

I have searched the forums looking for the above information on using a gamepad for this game. But I have yet to find it.

Can some one please give me a non-cryptic direction in which to find this information?

Thanks.

Hello Peeps!

Can someone other that Gorath answer this post. He won't actually answer this, instead he wants people to search the Forum. I searched all 31 pages of the Tips Section as well as the pages of the other sections.

I DO NOT FIND A POST CALLED 'GAMEPAD'
just this one and one other post still not answering the question.

And no offense Gorath, but if you don't have an answer, don't leave a reply. Your Crypto Answers are unwarranted.

Sorry Gothic_One, but gamepads are not officially supported. You'd have to make your own hack to get it to work. Heck, they threw mouse support in as an afterthought, so no gamepads.

Thanks Val, I appreciate the answer.

After searching every page in the forums for the subject that Gorath was talking about, I came to realize he was just trying to blow smoke up my arse.

Why a guy would mislead everyone is beyond me. Atleast now I know not to believe a thing Gorath says, and to avoid any and all of his posts.

Who's to say he actually knows anything about Gothic?

I should have realized this earlier when he replied to others with the same type of answer.

He's probably with Mud at Mud's place, discussing strategies.
