Mining in Gothic 2
   

Is it possible to extract Magic Ore from the "lumps of ore" I've found in abandoned mines? I've got a pick and have let my charactor chip away at one for what seems like 5 minutes with no result. Am I doing something wrong?

No, it's just an interactive object. You can't really mine ore.
(In the addon, you can mine gold, however.)
