if its the first lich that you have come across and you have not built up your incinerate spell i wolud just use invisibility scroll on ones self then run by him thou rember you may have to get by him again on the way back or unless you can use the teleporters

A few fireballs are helpful, along with several heath potions and a good sword. That worked every time for me!!

 thanks guys i killed it by casting fire field and forcing it back to the flame with a sword whilst keeping my mana topped.
don't you find having a limited number of spells limiting. dont seem to be able to cast incinerate yet |

The limit is what makes being a mage challenging, otherwise it would be too easy.
