You didnīt mention if you configured Gothic and your Radeon the way recommended in the FAQ. How to activate the internal frame counter is also explained in there.

The game is running an out of date engine and runs like shit. It should be 600% faster than it is, we gotta face it won't ever run well, and the devs have said they're not bothered about making it run better. Well screw them, if their game won't run on my top spec machine acceptably, and they won't fix it, I just return it, I advise others to do the same.

There are reported cases of people with a machine like yours getting above 20 FPS in the harbor area at full details and above 50 FPS in the woods, with enabled FSAA & AF. Did you consider the possibility that your machine and/or the game are misconfigured and need a clean install?

Well I don't think my machine is at fault as it's pretty clean, fully defragmented etc. I will try reinstalling the game today if that is what you suggest, but unless you see me making a triumphant post here assume that it's made no difference

I also had to reinstall once when I still had my Radeon 8500. Somehow G2 ignored I had changed the RadeonHack in the .ini.
