There is a samauri T'Rang NPC or monk Robot NPC you can pick up. A lot of people like the robot, RFS-81, because he will follow you anywhere I think.

My memory's a little fuzzy, but I think there's a couple gadget components up there. Didn't have a gadgeteer in my party that I won with, and haven't made it nearly that far with my latest group of bashers (which includes a gadgeteer just for fun). Since it didn't matter, I didn't pay close attention to where I picked up gadgets. |

You will find there not only RFS-81 (Android monk - level 10), but also Tantris (TRang samurai - level 6). This Android was second behind Vi Domina in our Poll topic about most useful hireable NPC in game here.
Also at the end, if you will play a little bit with switches, mine-cart will take you to dead-ends where you will find several items.
In different places you will find several good items here - Amulet of healing for example.

You need this alternative route to martens bluff if you don't want to miss the following.
- Access to the teleport system, without getting trouble with the T'rangs.
- Access to a switch for the gate that seals of the "Idol" you need for a quest in Trynton. Again you could go through the T'rangs to reach it, but they will get hostile.
- Two nice NPC's at the mine entrance. (Samurai and Monk). The Monk will follow you almost everywhere.
- Big silver nugget used for a custom item forged by Ferro in the Rapax castle.
