Heres what I've heard.

I personally have never played morrowind however, when I hear mention of Hand to hand by those who have including but not limited to the developers, they all seem to think that H2H is a very viable means of offense in all but a few circumstances.for instance if the creature you where fighting is immune to normal weapons, you might have to break out a magical weapon or use a offensive spell.

Important to remeber that all none of what I say is from personal experience.

I did not know, or think, that there would be character imune to normal weapons.

yes there are. Don't tell you which *g* (don't want to spoil you), but you'll meet them pretty early in the game if you are of the exploring kind...

So, Rend, are you saying that it's possible, early in the game, to meet a monster that is not affected by a normal weapon??

That would be sort of odd....would you fight with magic, or what??
I would think hand to hand would qualify as 'normal weaponry'....

Wouldn't vampires be a problem? I don't think you can just beat them to death with your fists.

I guess to kill the vampire you'd have to punch him in the heart really hard? Or maybe punch a whole through is chest and smurf-kick his heart... I dunno.

In daggerfall, there's a certain ranking to the materials for weapons and armor
from lowest to highest,

Iron
Steel
Silver
Elven
Dwarven (gold colored)
Adamantie(sp?)(blue)
Orcish(green)
Elbony (Black)
Daedric (Red)

Certain powerful monster cannot be hurt by weapons made from materials below a particular Rank.

Eg. a WereWolve/Boar are immune to anything made Steel and below, anything above silver can hurt it.

One exception is that, if you can hurt anyone with your barefist, thou the damage is small unless you have great strength. (i think this is so for people who wants to play with a hand-to hand class)

yeah, that's a valid explanation. Just think abut etherical monsters - in Daggerfall you needed at least silver to hit them.

And this doesn't say you would be helpless in Morrowind as someone who fights hand to hand. Either find enchanted gloves or enchant them yourself (if you have the ability).

This is how you enchant in Morrowind (if you do it youself). Before attacking a creature, capture its soul in a soulgem. Then, within a certain amount of time, kill the creature. The soul will be trapped in the soulgem then. You can now use the soulgem to enchant an item of your choice - with known spell components. I recently made a sword that steals life - comes in very handy *g*

Thats really cool! I love enchanting things, It's one of the best things about M&M IX. I suspect I would've lost interest in the game by now if not for the ability to enchant items.
