annoying inventory popup

That's it, i need help on thisone.
Whenever i open any of the books my inventory pops up.
Of course i had customized my controls, so i figured i might have caused some conflict by double occupying one or more keys.
Negative, everything was ok.
Next thing i try is resetting everything to default.
Again, the problem is still there...my inventory pops up and laughs at me...i think it hates me...lol
Maybe this isn't even a bug or anything, but just the way it's meant to be.
Well, if it is it stinks, but hey that's just me.
So pleeease enlighten me how to get rid of this.
Anyone ?

Just confirming annoying pop-up inventory every time.

Just to confirm. I notice that same annoying problem. No way I know of. Controls are rather convuleted, as if they were made for a import to stupid Xbox or PS2 system.

Notice how insane difficult to just pick something up and use it by accident or equip a weapon, or inventory managment?

Well.. to quicly pick up an item (with default keys)

While in mouse-look mode: pass your cross hair (the one in the middle of your screen) on an object and hit left mouse button + shift key to put this object in your inventory without any drag & drop or toggle.

LOL Xerxes...i hear ya
Often enough i found myself fighting with my fists, coz in the heat of battle i had somehow fumbled my sword away.
Some hotkeys for different weapons would have been a neat idea...not that it would have been a new idea either.
As for the Shift-Leftclick option to put things directly into your inventory.
Yes, that works ok...it would work even better if one could change the color
of that cross hair cursor, because with the color it's got now it blends perfectly into the scenery and is barely visible most of the time.
Only thing that helps that particular situation is of course that you know it sits smack in the middle of yer screen.
Still waiting for that inventory popup solution then.
Oh and before anybody gets the wrong impression...i am NOT trying to bash the game, everybody who's played the UU games will appreciate Arx

Julien: I think that Kayweg means something different: whenever someone opens a book to e.g. check the map, a spell, it also opens the inventory (which is not bad), however closing the book does NOT close the invetory (and mouselook mode for that matter), which is inconsistant, unwanted and annoing behaviour.

Ok, it takes only one more click of a mouse to close the inverntory, but I personally become often confused and it takes me a few tries and test clicks on the book and inventory buttons to finally shut those windows. It drows back from the game a LOT.

Is there a fix for this?
