How does time pass in this game? It sort of bothers me that the jewelry shop has been closed for the last 3 hours of real time, the owner telling me to come back during business hours.
Is there a way to tell the time and/or pass it quickly(ie. sleeping)?
Any help would be appreciated

There is no time in Arx . Everything is purely event driven. The jeweller will return to the shop after you complete some quest (don't remember what quest). If you need to sell gems, go on with the main quest and rather soon you will discover a jeweller in the goblin's kingdom. _________________ - Merz

Merz is right. There is no really time in Arx. But you will move it along as you finish the quests. Just keep going back. One time I went in the castle and found all the guards sleeping, I tried to "use key" one of them and they woke up and I got the cut scean of a new day. Then all the stores were open. I don't know if it was related, but it did get my attention. I don't remember where in the game I was, but it was early on.
