Gothic 1 was better than Morrowind, in my opinion... So I think it's safe to say that Gothic 2 would be a good choice.

That's what I think!
It's mostly about Gothic 1, but...

You won't get a fully fair answer on these boards, but I would say Gothic 2.

Personally, I found Morrowind very boring. The world was "dead" so to speak. I never played it long enough to get a good enough picture of it though. Anyway, I would go for Gothic.

Morrowind has a lot of bugs. A LOT. If you can patch or avoid these, though, it's supposed to be a great game. Still, I am Gothic biased, so I say Gothic 2.

Thnx for the replies!

I played morrowind (without the expansion packs) for a week... it's veeery boring... u can get the best armor and weapon very quickly, this isn't cool...

I wonder if with the expansion packs morrowind is less boring...

Plz, continue posting your thoughts about morrowind and Gothic 1 & 2...

Well, I got the G.O.T.Y. edition of Morrowind that comes with the expansion packs. I'm bored to tears with this game. It doesn't drive me to do anything but explore every once in awhile. None of the NPCs are memorable. I don't even remember their names. A cardboard cut-out of Bob Dole has more personality than these NPCs.

Whoa, Val, let's not get extreme here! There was no reason to bring Bob Dole into the discussion, much less cardboard cut-outs of him! [/i]

Gothic 2 by far. All copies of Morrowind should be tossed into a pile and set ablaze.

Morrowind isn't as bad as that, guys! There's a reason it won all kinds of allocades, including high-value awards from Gamespot, Gamespy, RPGDot, RPG Vault, XBox Evolved... RPGDot awarded it Best Graphics in an RPG, Best Sound in an RPG, Best Atmosphere in an RPG, and Best Single Player RPG. Whatever you say now, I personally believe it is a good game, it is very immersive, and it is great fun. Time has not changed that for me.

However, I expect what with Gothic 2 being more recent, it's likely to have some advantages. There's also a much bigger community around it here, so you're likely to benefit from that as well. I've not played it, but I expect Gothic 2 is the best choice for you.

But that's not to say that Morrowind isn't still a **** fine game.

everyone thinks something else. maybe you like to explore the world, without meeting much people.
it's true that Morrowind has a lot more to expore, and has more secrets.
but it is hard to find the main quest. there are so much -little or big- quests, that many people won't do the main quest at all.

in Gothic, it is different. almost every quest has something to do with the main quest. like you must find find an amulet for Sly. it has nothing to do with the main quest -you think-. because ot has. if you do the quest, you are one step closer to becoming a shadow. and one strep closer to the end of the game. if you solve big quests in Morrowind, it may bring up some money, but not information or a solution to the main quest.
