Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Designer Diary @ Official Site

Blue's News is reporting that Oblivion programmer, Brendan Anthony, has updated his diary on the official site. The discussion this time focuses on the topic of magic.
In my humble opinion, magic is one area in which The Elder Scrolls has always excelled. The multiple schools, the vast selection of magic effects, and especially the ability to combine them together to create unique spells all add up to a very satisfying freeform gaming experience. With that in mind, one of the first things that you will notice about magic in Oblivion is that it is relatively similar to what we’ve seen in previous TES games. The spellmaker is there (Mages Guild members only!), we have kept the same six magic schools, and there are still a ton of magic effects and enchanted items. There’s lots of new stuff too, as well as many improvements to the feel of the whole system, but as far as basic functionality the idea is evolution over revolution.
Read the rest at the official site.

This is age-old news, and also one that has already been posted here.

Not if the update to the dev diary was recent.

*hugs Shimbatha* My hero! Lucky I have a thick skin.

Frankly, if it was reported on recently and isn't totally new news ( ), it's so far down the list as to have been forgotten by a lot of people....like me, obviously.

I don't feel bad for reposting it at all. There are always new people coming into games and if on rare occasion, something slips in twice, so be it. *shrugs*

If you are going to cut someone down you can at least spell correctly. That is unacceptable.

Your correction of me is unacceptable. I spelled that wrong on purpose.

And the sad thing is that this one works both ways.
