Thats not much for anyone to go on!!! You need to give more information. Some details on your system. What happens when you try to load it, does the screen change does anything happen? What driver versions are you using for video card, sound card etc.

  • Did you try to uninstall & reinstall?
  • What video card do you use?
  • Did you try to re-install DX8?
  • Try to change resolution and/or color depth
  • Try to disable sound
  • If all else fails, contact PB Support

You said that you rebooted and that as the system was shutting down the games movie started playing…Is that right?

Or was it the PB intro? The blue water scene
    with bubbles

    Add me to that problem.

Not the crashmessage by "Anonymous #2" but the "wait forever" one by "Anonymous #1".

I even tried to let the application run over the night, but it still hadnt started the next day.

I install full installation (tried both my game partition and C: ) then ran gothic.exe (both the shortcut and the file in system ).

Nothing happens. I wait, and wait, and wait.

Loading up the Task Manager I can see Gothic.exe in mem, using up 0% cpu and about 4,5mb of ram.

If I try to load the game again, a new task named Gothic.exe with the exact same CPU/Mem in task manager.

I have tried to run the game in Compatibility mode. Makes no difference except that the task sucks up a bit more mem.

Hopefully I manage to run this game soon. I loved the demo and grabbed the game as soon as I could. The box feels like an empty shell...

If you tried everything possible mail PB. The adress for tech support is somewhere on their site.

You have two critical components, WinXP and GeForce3. Sorry we are unable to help you here.

    Found the problem...

It seems like ASUS "VGAProbe" doesnt work well with Gothic... After shutting it down the game loads as normal. =)

I have a similar problem, but I notice that it only happens when I quit from having played the game once, and then try to restart it. Everything's fine, I quit out and get back to the desktop. Just fine. Then if I try to run it again, it will never work. I have to reboot to get it to run again. It just does stuff in the background without working at all. Sometimes it will go to a black screen, with no hard drive activity. I have no idea what's going on.

Nvidia Geforce 2 Ti (2nd newest Det. Drivers)
    T-bird 1.4Ghz w/AGP drivers installed
    ABIT KG7-RAID
    SB Audigy
    512MB Crucial RAM

    Anyone having the same problem?
