Should I play Gothic I first? |
|
I have Gothic and Gothic II. Should I start with the first game? Is playing the first game necessary to the storyline, etc? Or is #2 a completely independent game? Thanks! |

I would play the first part first. In Gothic 2, you get the chance to meet old friends and return to a well-known location. Some events happening in Gothic 2 are a direct result of the things you've done in Gothic 1. Plus I still like G1 more than G2.
Are there any reasons not to play Gothic 1 first? |

The weaker interface. G2 uses an improved version of the same interface. The hurdle is only half as high.
G2 can be played without Gothic. I would say download JemyM´s FAQ and play Gothic. If you absolutely can´t get the hang of the controls switch to G2. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Actually there are a two I can think of.
First of all, most people have it an easier time with the GII controls. AND The game, for me was a lot easier as well, than the first Gothic I mean. |

I'd say the whole controls-thing is an argument for the opposite.. if you play G2 first, you will probably never like G1, because it's hard to get the hang of when you are used to the controls in G2(especially if you decide to use the "new controls").
Depends, if you're after hack-and-slash action RPG, go with G2. If you are after a good story and great NPCs to interact with and get to know, start with G1.
G2s' story continues where G1 left off, and the characters you meet along the way are very much the same. This will make the game series much more enthralling as a whole. |
