Who trains Militia in Str? |
|
Okay, I am sure this is an old question, but I couldn't find an answer.
I was in Chpt 1 (right before heading into Chpt 2), having joined the militia and could not get anyone to train my str. It was almost like the militia guys thought I was not militia.
I later traveled to the Valley of the mines and got str training there, but kinda limited (only to 75). Is this a common problem? Was there something I missed?
The notes section of my log told me to talk to X (x = the blacksmith in the Barracks ... can't recall his name now), but my conversation options with him was very simple - none! _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Well, if the Militia guy won't help you out, then go talk to Karl in the lower part of the city. He's another blacksmith in the city. If you help Edda with her problem, then he'll train you for free. I'm pretty sure he goes to 90. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!
What do I have to show for my hard work? A piece of paper! Wee!

Thanks for the quick feedback.
@Val - He only goes to 30 (drat it all!)
@Dez - Mortis (I remembered his name!) would not speak with me.
It is no longer an issue as I got the smith in the castle in the Valley to train my up to 75 or 80 (forget which) and, of course, once a pally the trainer there worked.
It was just very frustrating as I'd been saving points up. There is nothing more frustrating than having 30 learning points and not being able to use them!
Ah well, live an learn. Next time I will concentrate on strength first and weapons skills second *grin* _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Hmm i wonder why Mortis is so pissed off. Did you attack him or did you steal something? In any case you could try casting the oblivion spell scroll on him and see if it helps. The crazy alchemist, Ignaz in the harbor district isl selling oblivion spellscrolls. _________________ The focused mind can pierce through stone |

I don't think Mortis will train you until you go get his helper from the Red Lantern. _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?

Thanks for the help guys ... for the record, I fetched his helper from the house of ill repute ... did *not* rat him out to the commander ... and had a conversation that got me useless sword. Went to sleep for the night and in the morning they were no longer talking to me.
It 'felt' like the militia was pissed off at me, but I hadn't done anything wrong. Oh well.
I guess I was just wondering if this was a common glitch. Guess not, eh? _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Actually, the Mortis problem is a well documented bug in the vanilla G2. I ran into it when I first played the game. I even started a thread about it -- if you want to search you can probably find it.
To trigger the bug, all you have to do is talk to Mortis before you officially join the militia. If you make that mistake, then he will not train you in strength once you enter the militia no matter what.
So to avoid the bug, simply ignore Mortis until you are really in the militia!!! _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |

Well then. I guess that settles it!! I'll just have to find a copy of G2-Gold.
Thanks, elkston. I really didn't think I was hallucinating *grin* _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=
