Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Review @ Atomic PC |
|
Australian hardware mag Atomic PC quickly has their review up, awarding 9.5/10 and getting quite excited:
Put simply, Oblivion has one of the best combat systems ever devised. You don't stand there swapping blows ad nauseum with your opponent or swinging like a madman and waiting for them to die. No, in Oblivion, each fight is a unique experience.

Sure, blocking works like one would expect it to - raise shield, take blow, damage mitigated - except it doesn't always work. Depending on your Block skill, you'll either block the hit entirely or take a reduced amount of damage. Blocking also serves to protect you from stunning attacks, which occur with surprising frequency. You don't even need a shield to block. Although inferior, you can deflect blows with a sword hilt or the broad side of an axe.
|

Probably if they played nonstop since the game has been released, they may have even tested most parts of the game :]. |

Maybe we will hear a different song in six months, than those "one-day test reviews in order to be the first to review". |

But surely this magazine got a copy before release for review? Though, it is fishy how they fleshed out the review with lengthy quotes. _________________ Patito |

I think they forgot a "P" in front of that review. Everything read just as all the previews read before it.

Maybe I'm wrong or pehraps I misunderstood, but I read somewhere a few weeks ago that Betesdha didn't want to send any copy of the game to magazines before the release date. Instead, they invited "journalists" to come in there offices to try it. So, it means that 2 or 3 days is enough to test this kind of RPG. |

Sorry, Gorath, I'm not getting your hints. Why am I editing it? _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |
