What's happening in the real world?

Hello (again) everyone, I've been away for a bit to take care of real world stuff again. Just as I clicked on "new topic" to say hi to everyone, I realised I don't really know a lot about the real lives of many of the people here. If anyone's interested, we can use this thread to discuss new developments in your real-world situations.... I'll start!

I got a new job... forum moderator! It's for a mobile phone company here in the UK, I have to edit text messages for cussin' and libel before publishing them. The messages come in so slow, I'm basically getting paid to watch TV (TVs at every desk!), read, post on RPGDot, do university work, etc.... hope my bosses aren't monitoring this!

Speaking of university work... me and my fellow students have to make an "interactive movie," combining film, CG animation and some programming. Instead of going for the traditional (ie, rubbish) approach to interactive movies, we're trying to make a game where the player takes the role of a computer hacker who has to guide a sneaking accomplice through a building, using his hacking abilities to protect the sneak, unlock doors, distract guards etc. Bit like the old Max Headroom movie, if anyone saw that.

And I know this is veering away from the real world a bit, but my new job prompted a spending spree... so I've updated my PC and bought a Gamecube and PS2. Eternal Darkness is fantastic!

Glad to see you back Piln. Sounds like your real world is very much a computer world. Like many, I come here to escape the real world with all its hassles. That way, I get to enjoy more hassles with/from the people here!!

I'm currently enjoying a four-week break from school. My school is a year-round Charter School of about 250. I've been sleeping until twelve, skateboarding, watching movies, spending nights at friends' houses, playing Gothic 2, Call of Duty, BF 1942, and Halo, and reading The Princess Bride (do not let the name deterr you, it is funny as hell).

Well I'm getting ready to go away for a week with the cadets. Apart from that, nothing much.

Well… real world…hmm. The best description I can come up with about my current situation. Imagine the fraction of a second before s*** hits the fan and you still hope that you will somehow avoid being splash.

I'm in the middle of spring cleaning. I'm also doing research for a paper I'm writting on migrating domains from Windows NT to Windows 2003. I just finished a major update to my website. And I should really study for my next test, but my new digital camera is just begging me to browse it's manual.

Finished midterms as of tonight (4 over the week). Praying for finals to come so summer can begin. Then I'll take a few courses, do lab work, learn Japanese, and work with my programmer friend and the resident artist, my brother, on a computer game mod.

Good luck to everyone with exams and the like.

@corwin, cheers, it's good to be back, and you're right - what with work, studies and hobbies, I'm spending pretty much every waking moment in front of a TV or monitor. Actually, tonight I have something different to do, I have to draw storyboards for a load of movie scenes in our uni project, so I have an opportuity to turn away from the screen and go low-tech (ie, use a pencil)!

@goshuto, what's your Masters in? And good luck, btw - is your work for it finished?

I attended my precinct's caucus meeting this evening. I was so tempted to... "educate" some people.

What I wouldn't have given for my chipper/shredder....
