CPU sounds good. GFX sounds bad. If you have a PS 1.3 card, how can you expect to play a PS 3.0 game. I think you should at least have a PS 2.0 card to enjoy G3 and all other games that will be published within the next 6 month.
You should at least have something like a Radeon X800 or a Geforce 6800 with 256 Mb video ram to see it in it's full glory.
But that doesn't mean that you can't play it with only 128 Mb video ram.
1 gig of sys ram is OK...
If i should buy me a gfx card atm i would buy a:
Powercolor Radeon X800 GTO with 256MB
But it's always better to wait until the game is coming out before buying a new gfx card so you can see which card is working the best. |

Note that 256 bit graphics isnt allways better than 128 bit. (in some circumstances!!!) _________________ Here, take these potions, they might come in handy!!! |

Ratavuk is right, Jackie. Your Graphics card is outdated just like mine was a month ago. Since I only updated my CPU and Motherboard at 12/2004, I wasn't willing to go for an entirely different setup. (I have the AMD S754 and this outrules the 'new' SLI mother boards with PCI express) I just updated my system with what I believe to be the last of the AGP cards, namely a 7800GS. I don't insist you shouyld go for that one, but your system will be ok for Oblivion and Gothic3 by this. _________________ Moderator and Council Magician of the RPGDot Shadows

G3 was supposed to run better with nvidia so I'm probably gonna buy myself 7800GTX 256MB and hope I don't need a better graphics card for max settings, cause G series is like the only game, where i give a damn about the graphics, especially the draw distance |

The official requirements aren't know, but you can compare it with the requirements needed for games like Oblivion.
These are the official requirements for Oblivion:
quote:
Recommended:
3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
1 GB System RAM
ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card
Minimum System Requirements:
Windows XP
512MB System RAM
2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
128MB Direct3D compatible video card
and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;
8x DVD-ROM drive
4.6 GB free hard disk space
DirectX 9.0c (included)
DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
Keyboard, Mouse

Should be ok imo...If it runs doom3 in medium or better, then it should run. Offcourse Gothic 3 is not Doom3. _________________ Here, take these potions, they might come in handy!!! |

Thanks for the reply. But if Gothic 3 is released in fall/winter, I suppose it will be time to upgrade then. Meanwhile Oblivion will be the test. |

i strongly recommand you a GeForce 6800 GT or at least 6600 GT .
This board is more than efficient in games than Radeon Xxxx series or 9xxx
It's your choice... _________________ Choose your destiny1 |

You'd better wait till we know when Gothic 3 is going to be released. When you wait some time you can buy a better card for the same amount of money. It might even take half a year before the game is released. _________________ "Who are we to call this planet Earth, when it's clearly Ocean."

If I had to upgrade now, I'd go with the 6800 Gt; but I'll wait till the end of the year when the price of the newer 7800 GTX (is that the exact name?) will have, hopefully, been reduced a little. |

I am currently on top of all the specs for Recommended, except for my graphics card. I am still stuffed with my X300 128mb. I hope it's enough, since I don't have any money a.t.m. And since the X800 is quite pricy, I hope I won't have to buy that one. _________________ Always wondering how it would be... |

The price will definetely go down once 7900 comes out, I'm gonna buy a 7800GTX then myself.
BTW, at the moment the 7800GT should be the best choice if you compare the price and performance. |
