It's not on him so you don't have to pickpocket him, it's some where else. |

I'm pretty sure that he had the book on him when I played through NoTR.
I can't remember how I got it off him though, sorry. |

Alright
Spoiler:
It's in his chest. So you'll have to beat him up for it. Then you'll have to pick the lock of his chest and then steal the book.
I do hope I'm not confusing Lehmar with someone else since it's been a long time since I've played. Lehmar is the moneylender, right?
The key isn't for getting in the thieves' guild though, it's for something else. |

ok...
there are 2 different quests mixed into one in this topic.
(spoilers)
about the ring. its constantino's ring (the alchemist). the boss of the thieves guild wants you to get it to prove you are worthy. in constantinos room there are an alchemist bench, he works on it all day, a chest and a bed. picklock the chest and you got his ring( its a wood protection ring)
about the book. there is a money lender near the harbor called lehmar. he lends money to anyone. if you lend and dont pay back, some of the guys in the harbor (his henchmen) will try to kick ur ass. knock lehmar down to settle it. take his book of debts where he has a list of ppl who are in debts with him. first theres Thorben the carpenter. you can give him the book and get his eternal gratitude(because now lehmar doesnt know Thorben and the others are in debt) theres also Coragon the barkeeper. he will give you a special beer for the book. i dont know the effects, its not that great. finally theres the woman from the hotel. she will give you a bag with in it some picklocks and a key to the chests on the little island near the harbor.( the loot of the thievesguild is in it.)
that was all. |

Everything hyabuso says tracks just fine. Some additional notes, though:
1. You CAN pick Lehmar's pocket for the book just fine, and this will prevent the guard (that's always upstairs in the Red Lantern) from coming after you for beating up Lehmar.
2. Be sure to give the book to Thorben (and buy it back) and to Corrigan (and buy it back) before giving it to the hotelkeeper -- you can't buy it back from her, but if you give it to her last you have no further use for it anyway. _________________ imposterAZ

BS, the beer gives you a permanent strength bonus _________________ Chris: Dad, what's the blow-hole for?
