I have an ATI Radeon card and graphics in gothic are all screwed up.

The readme says to disable the fog but how do you go about doing that?

Sounds like a driver problem. You should read the "barrier visibility" thread. The correct driver version should solve all issues.

If you need to, you can disable fog in the Gothic.ini. Search for zFogDisabled and set it =1.

Actually I have a Radeon, and I think I know what you are talking about. Try enabling S3TC in the Radeon graphics properties. Might be texture compression, but it is in the D3D tab. I don't remember the exact name for it.
