Can't get gamepad to work

I am using a PSX gamepad with a USB converter from RadShack. Is there any way to get this to work? I edited the .ini file to enable joysticks, but this gamepad won't work. Any help?

Hey there guybo,

The driver you install, (or choose generic) must show as enabled and functioning in the direct-x control menu.

Of course my gamepad works. Do you mean the Game Controllers applet in the Control Panel? The gamepad works fine with other games. I am looking for specific help with this game, not general troubleshooting help.

Map the most important keyboard commands to your gamepad in your driver software.

I could do that, but then I'd have to run a 3rd party mapper in the background, but I don't want to do that. Thanks anyway, it's a good suggestion though.

I thought Gothic2 was supposed to support gamepads? Oh well.

Not officially, I think. At least Gothic 1 definitely runs with MS and Logitech pads. G2 uses the same technology. It would be slightly illogical to remove a working feature.

I do believe that the Gothic II German patch addresses some of these gamepad problems, but how you might install that could be complex, but maybe not impossible.

The international versions include all German patches.
