i think taht the original idea of ISDA was a good decision to fight against the piracy and protect the smaller software house... but now it has grown stronger and the power makes everyone crazy... _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

Don't be too sad if you have XP. So far, to my knowledge, nobody has gotten Daggerfall on XP to work.
I have the original game at home, including box and manual. I don't miss it after Morrowind no more. _________________ Rendelius

Since my system is too out of date to run Morrowind, I was wondering could I get Daggerfall to run on win 98? Should I even try? |

i've managed to run DF on Win95/98/ME! It can be possible! If you have ME go and see ZDNet site. In the download page it's a very good utility to create a boot disk for old DOS games which works perfectly! i don't know if there is the same utility for win98... have a look _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

i think it's called "WinMe Ultimate Boot Disk" or somethink like it...
however what you have to do is:
creat a boot disk
change the config.sys and the autoexec.bat in this disk removing all the indesiderate entries and leaving CD - DOS sound emulation - mouse - Keyboard (obviously DOS=UMB,HIGH and others dirvers which load all in the hi memory) _________________ =Member of the NonFlamers' Guild=

I think I have one of these already set up...I use it to run the original Master of Orion, and Master of Magic. Both great games, if you can over look the pitiful AI. |

Yog Sothoth,
I forgot to mention this in the prior post:
Good sol'n to the three dot riddle ... at first I didn't get your sol'n. The other 6 or 7 I tried were fairly easy, but that one just had me! |

I haven't gotten it to work under WinXP. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. That might be true Rendelius, the thing is I don't have Morrowind yet (it will come out around June or so I hear in CR)and just the fact that I can't find Daggerfall is driving me crazy...I wouldn't mind giving it a try on XP even if I couldn't make it work at least I would have tried..Providing that I can find the bloody game which seems impossible.... |

I installed it and got it running under xp about a month ago.
Basically you just need to boot back to dos, install the game, start xp back up and start by double clicking the executable you installed.
To get sound working use 'VMSound' You will also need to get a speed hack to slow you system down otherwise you wont be able to swim or climb ladders in-game.
Go to the official 'Elder Scrolls' boards if you need more help on setting it up under XP. |

The only other option I can think of for you to gain a copy is to try second hand games dealers. Even in my little city here in the west corner of Australia we have a few games stores that have been buying up second hand games for the last 20 years and I can find all types of old games in there
Worst comes to worst you could 'loan' it until a real version possibly comes out some day again. My stance against piracy is about not hurting the games developers. In this case though I cant see how the developers are going to get hurt by it. |
