I and many other people I know have major video performance problems with Gothic on Windows XP. And all of us have high-end gaming computers. Piranha Bytes, if you are reading this, then PLEASE release a patch which fixes Gothic on Windows XP, because the 1.08k patch doesn't help.
Thank You |

I just changed the official WinXP drivers for my geforce 2 card to the old 14.40 Win2k detonators. Suprisingly I got better frame rates and smoother gameplay. From what I read all over the net, the Nvidia XP drivers suck shit compared to the older win2k drivers and score much lower on benchmarks. Don't believe Nvidia's bullshit about there Winxp drivers making games 30% to 50% faster.

Yo whats up with NVidia anyway?
Leading Video Chip manufacturers and all they can dole out are beta drivers for their products? And these aint cheap video cards, the least they could do is provide stable, tested drivers for them.
btw: every detonater driver I've tried has fuqed with my system with 1 game or another. Think they call them detonator drives cause they will blow your shit up if you continue to use them, like slow timebomb |

As i have said before..Try and use Windows own drivers then you will have NO problem at all..Check windows Update..
And there is NO problem with Via Chipset and XP..My machine runs very smooth and Gothic runs Very smooth too..If you just uses Windows XP´s own drivers you would agree with me..

Two things: There are no Windows Drivers for a GeForce3 TI - it isn't recognized. I have such a card, so the windows drivers do not do my any good.
Second: I don't know if you know, but Windows drivers are stable for a single reason: the run AGP 1x instead of AGP 4x, which turns your Geforce into an PCI card and costs you about 20% performance. This isn't why I bought it
And please follow the link I posted above. To say there are no issues with XP and GeForce cards is - well, denying the obvious

There is a Via AGP Driver.. I think its called AGP 4.10..That will fix your performance..and WINDOWS UPDATE has just relased a new NVIDIA driver for Gforce 2 and 3 so this should fix your problem..
Best regard from me |

well it was weird, XP prof did pick up my GeForce3 ti 500 upon its 1st boot-up. But I just figured they were outdated (I only bought the card a week before I installed the xp cd that I had for a month). And thats when I tried the detonator drivers...and THATS when I get getting these log errors, esp when I would alt+tab out of the game...
strangely enough I re-installed ME...stable as the rock of gibraltar. |

I know there are issues with VIA and AGP under XP, but nothing that can't be straightened out with the right driver/utility comination I suspect. I seem to have gotten lucky with my system, as I haven't had to do any severe tweaking to it what-so-ever.

Hey Rend - I think there must be Windows drivers for the GEForce 3TI because I installed XP and then installed the 3TI - it was recognized just fine by XP and drivers were installed. Maybe you got a different XP version than I did! However, those drivers didn't work with Gothic for me - I had to install the new set from NVidia.
But I totally agree with you - the PRIMARY issue for all here is drivers!

Got a GF3 Ti500
Also got a Asus A7V KT133A wich uses the VIA chipset.
When I started to play Gothic I had lots of graphic problems with the firmware 21.83 drivers. Updating to the latest XP drivers solved all this.
I dont see why people are whining about Piranha Bytes and Gohic when they can only go to http://www.nvidia.com, download new drivers, install, and then be happy.
Whats up? Dont know how to update a videocard driver, or what?
Best Regards
JemyM
