When in bloodfly form, how does one gain altitude?

I assumed being a bloodfly would allow me to reach inaccessible places but all I can do is zip around a metre off the ground like a speeder bike.
It's probably something simple, sorry if it seems a silly question.

Many thanks.

Hey there Phil5000,

It cannot be done normally, its fixed in the game, the height value could be tweaked, but then that value would be fixed, so it's no go.

Not a silly question at all. I tried to get off the ground for 20 minutes before coming here and finding the answer to my failure.
