I give up; how do you cast oblivion?

I started the game over and am trying a new approach. I thought I would beat up Bartok while hunting with and cast Oblivion on him. Well, I clicked on the spell and my hand turned blue and white "sparkelly". Now what?? I hit the alt key, the ctl key, the space key, the telegraph key and tried my house key but nothing seems to work to cast the spell. How do you cast the Oblivion spell?

When you beat him wait until he gets up.Then activate the spell, press action key and hold it a little(your hand should turn blue and white after this and also you have to be near him so his name appear above his head).
Then speak to him and if it's an option to say him okay? then everything
is okay. Also you can see that if the guard let you back in the castle(if you didn't cast the spell Bartok will tell the guards what you did so you will have to pay 100 gold to get in).
