I could be persuaded to give you 1 of 4, but that's about it.

Wiz8 and MM7 need to be there.

Base on your choices one can easily say it that you don’t play games for very long time. On top of that if you go through the pages of this board you will notice that each one has similar poll, and each time I’m voting for Fallout one of the greatest game ever to see daylight.

Well no one will want to agree with this list.

Two of them are RTS games which are kind of a tired format for me...

I didnt like warcraft 3 at all.
I actually worked for blizzard shortly many years ago, and then they were working on starcraft.

I worked in QA so I did essentially nothing. But that game was super great, it was tested to perfection, it deserves to be on 'best of ' lists very high.

Warcraft 3 sucked in comparison. Barely kept my attention I give it 4 of 10.

Morrowind is probably on a lot of peoples best of ever lists. I can understand that definitely its very impressive, especially with the right add ons. Its not on mine but its close. Of those four I can only agree with morrowind.

Disagree. There's even one of my least favorite games in it.

My personal top 3...

1. Planescape: Torment (bar none the greatest story ever told in a PC game)
2. Warcraft: Orcs and Humans (first game I ever played on this new really cool thing called a CD-ROM)
3. Baldur’s Gate 2 (I know many people would put 1 before 2, but the spontaneous interaction between party members really impressed me and made them feel much more real)

Honorable mentions (in no particular order)... The Fallouts, Heroes of Might and Magic (the first one), Might and Magic 7, GTA 3, Gothic, and Starcraft.

*So I didn’t agree with even a single of your choices*
Three of rathan's choices came out in the last year or so. I'm guessing he's very young.

1. Blade of Destiny (Realms of Arcania)
2. Baldurs Gate 2 (both part)
3. Planescape Torment
4. Ultima Online
5. Ultima 7 part 1 and 2
6. Frontier Elite 2
7. Civilization 2
8. Neverwinter (I like to make mod... the orginal story is boring)
9. Might and Magic 7/8
10. Everquest

This my best of all times, and some of them are OLD! I still have most of them but some of them are unplayable like Blade of destiny, Ultima 7 and older.
1. I like because of its free form and one play a party of 6 adventurers, unlike Daggerfall wich also is free form but only one adventurer.
2. I like the interaction between PC and the 5 NPC's that can join. Jan, Aerie, Jaheira and Viconia is fun in a group. And the story is great too.
3. PT has great story but its lacking in group interaction and in class selections.
4. Played UO for over 3 years. I simply love the skill system and guild system and house/castle ownership (but too few areas for housing).
5. Ultima 7 were great in story too. Loved the city Monitor.
6. Discovering new planets were fun and I loved the ability to land on planets and start mining factories. I wish one could turn off pirates...
7. Liked Civ. cince the start. Rule the world!
8. Great idea with the aurora tool so players can make modules and the ability to play online or offline.
9. Can play evil races and classes as well as good one.
10. Everquests had its challenges... I was a dark elf enchanter that moved to the elf cities Kelethin and Felwithe and that was a real challenge as everyone wanted to kill my d.e. As she killed orcs and did quests she gradually became accepted by the NPC's... But at level 20 there was still NPC's that did not tolerate her unless she changed form but most did. However, camping is a routine in EQ and that is boring over time.

Youre dealing with a tough crowd here when it comes to absolutes, sir, especially games. ='.'=
That is almost like putting up 4 different musical artists and saying they are all the best or not, there is no way. Maybe If you threw up one artist, and had many different aspects of why you think so, but a few different, there is simply no way. I know, rambling here, im out of it kinda today. I always get giddy when Im up late.
When it comes to *some* of the best games ever, Ill agree wholeheartedly that Majesty and WCIII both deserve their spot on the list for their particular genres. Ive never played Morrowind, and lost interest in NWN 3/4 of the way thru. My top games of all time are as follows, in no real order because they all have their strong suits. These are games that i found myself playing at 4 am, hungry, having not showered in 2 days.

SinglePLayer-
Battlezone 2
American McGees Alice
Fallout
Age of Empires 2
Majesty
Freedom Force
Baldurs gate
Myth II
Gothic
Age of Mythology
Wc III
Diablo II

Multiplayer (its all a big blur now)-
Dark Age of Camelot
Soldier of Fortune
Age of Empires 2
Medal of Honor
Myth II
Starvraft
Quake II and III
Diablo I & II

So, as you can see, there are some titles that have been worthy SP as well as MP titles, therefore they would deserve a higher purrsonal rating I guess. But then again, I was entertained in a diffrent way by Alice than I was by AOE2, but I got far more mileage out of AOE2 in sheer game hours. Whats the end result of this entire post? F#@% I dont know, confused more than when I began. We need to just flat out make a "Best Games of Each Era" thread, for each genre. 80s, 90, 00's, in each genre or somthing

#2 Gothic
#3 Counter Strike (!)

(At least lately, cause a long time ago I liked other games too, but I can't remember them)

Morrowind is good, big part due to it's hugeness :p if you catch my drift.
W3 is... alright... nowhere near as good as Starcraft... Bliz newbified it.
NWN is an overhyped POS. :p terrible graphics, story, gameplay. It's a lesser version of Diablo.
Never played Majesty.

I disagree ^^
