I remember playing one of the Ultimas (I think it was Ultima1, but I've slept a few times since then) on a friend's Apple 2E. It was a few years later that I got my own hardware and a while after that when I went beyond turn-based strategy games. I think Might and Magic 4&5 got me into RPG mode. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

'Ali-Baba and the 40 Thieves' 'Ultima 3', 'Sir Galahad and the Holy Grail' by Atari Program Exchange and Zork 2, all on the Atari 800, were the first dungeon adventure/RPG's I played that led to my current love for rpg's. However, the first 'true' RPG that really grabbed me and got me hooked on the genre was Ultima 3 on my old Atari computer. |

I actually think one of the other first true RPGs I played were Ultima 6 and 7. Guess I am kinda modern huh. _________________ Do you know how LAZY you Morrowind people are! Instead of getting up and fighting Dagoth Ur, you send someone to do it for you! Only I'm excused, I AM the king. |

Yeah!!
I remember playing Eye of the beholder on my Amiga PC, great PC at the time, and I really got into it. To a point that when that big red dragon came running at me at the end, I almost fell down of my chair and in panic I went hidden around the maze for 5 minutes giving me the time to catch my breath.
Scary memories...

Glorious, glorious Ultima 5. I should play it again. I loved my magic throwing axes.
I did so love that game. What an epic. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

Back then I was heavily into playing real (=pen and paper) RPGs, but it didn't keep me from playing CRPGs. The first one I played was Hillsfar for the Amiga. I didn't like it at all, but this didn't keep me from playing others after it. I didn't like most of the CRPGs I played, however... until I got Lands of Lore 1. _________________ Jaz |

I have to admit that AD&D got me to spend lots and lots of lunch time at school playing with my friends. Chill, masquerade Magic:The gathering also

i got Might & Magic 6, then Baldur's Gate as gifts. i had them both, but didn't play them for the longest time, because they seemed too much like boy's games. killing and blood and junk. but i was happy once i got past that and actually played them.

First true RPG I ever played was definitely Wizardry on the IBM-PC. That game took over my life. It was like playing D&D!!! Woot!

The first CRPG I can remember playing was (nearly 20 years ago, I think) "Die dunkle Dimension" on C 64, a german Ultima Clone (IIRC I dabbled with some Ultimas but since we got english-Lessons only at 5th Grade in School ...). The The second was "Verlies" (Dungeon) when I got the Money to buy a Discdrive. The first english CRPG I can remember playing was Bard's Tale III. _________________ "Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule."
