Try Morrowind. Some people don't like it that much. Others love it. Or Daggerfall, which is actually Morrowinds' prequel (which people have raved about being better than Morrowind itself)

Never Winter Nights. Good for Multiplayer, but single player not too shabby. And it's new.

If you can wait till November... Gothic 2 will be out!

Morrowind is kinda like gothic, in the way of beating ppl up, robbing, and the beautiful speech instead of text feature. I thought I was going to die in Neverwniter Nights, Ive never had to read so much in 30 minutes in my life, I uninstalled that in a heartbeat!

I have played Morrowind...
It was more complicated the Gothic, but the Graphics are nicer...
I dont know which is better...but Gothic is sooooo much easier.
I'll have to say Gothic is better.

1. I HATE WAITING
2. Gothic is better than Morrowind
3. Have a nice day

You might try Redguard which was also 3rd person. Or the last Ultima.

Well, actually all the above either are, or can be switched to 3rd person view.

I'd suggest Outcast ( old ). While playing Gothic I was often reminded of this game. It has weird voxel-graphics, a SF-setting and no stats or skill developement, but apart from that its very similar ( esp. the dialogues ). The world is unique, the NPCs seem to be living their lives ( but still a far cry from Gothic ), the story is interesting and intelligent, the fights real time and all speech is spoken by good voice actors. If you haven't already played this one, you should give it a try.
