Can you still learn twohanded swordfighting if you join the mages?

Yep.
But you dont want to. 2h Level 2 is 70 skillpoints. Put thoose skillpoints in Level 3/4/5 magic instead.
Either you become a powerful mage, or a powerful warrior, or you become a not-so-powerful warriormage.
