Unlocking spell/object

I'm tired of being in the middle of a nice plunder and finding myself fresh out of Undusi'es Unhinging spells.
Anyone know who might have a decent permanent unlocking object?

And lockpicks- I've never been able to open anything with a lockpick, even a security level 5. Am I doing something wrong? What skill controls your ability with these things?

I think one of the mages in the bottom floor of the Balmora mage guild will sell an unlock spell of some sort. Hope your alteration skill is decent, though.

As for lockpicks, equip them like you would a weapon, and click on the chest/door. If you have a chance to unlock it, it will succeed or fail based on your security skill. If you have no chance, it will say the lock is too complex. I think the base chance to work a lock is the quality of your pick times your security skill, which is compared to the skill of the lock. I imagine it's far more complex than that, but it should give you a rough idea of where you stand.

Well, you can try to enchant something yourself and give it a constant effect.

there's an amulet of open level 20 from the trader in caldera, as well as an amulet of recall. i found an amulet of mark and also an amulet of open level 50 i think in a cave south of balmora. i explored a lot of caves when i found these, so im not quite sure which one it is.

To get a Ondusi Unhinging Spell (open 40-60) check around in the mages guilds.
But better is a self enchanted item of open 100 pts on touch (i named it Ring of Lockshatter).
If your enchanting skill is to low mix some Fortify Intelligence potions
and buy yourself a custom spell of Fortify Intelligence.
I made one of 8x 100pts Fortify Intelligence for 1 sec.
Thats enough time to get into the menu and make a midrange enchantment. For high lvl enchants you need 1500+ Int.
Tip:
When you mix potions at very high INT you can easily make potions of 100+ Fortify Intelligence.
Depends on your playstyle if you consider this cheating.

If you want to get your lockpicking super high....all you do is get fenricks doorjam spell....a bunch of lockpicks....and find a container and just lock it with the spell......then pick it open.....repeat until you get to the desired level at which you want your security skill at.
