Finally downloaded the file and watched the movie. Geeez, the file was big! The troll really looked scary, and the fire dragon's breath was very cool (or hot). Can't wait to fight those monsters.

Do you go right? Or do you go left? A simple decision, yes? No ambiguities. Only the dream of the path not taken! And so one might stand in this place and contemplate for a long while. What will I miss if I go left? What will I lose if I go right? And in my indecision, have I chosen a worse fate?

I tried that already - everything i played on this DivX 5.0.2
was just a green screen and the Gothic 2 teaser had still the same
text "The location you selected coyld not be opened"
or something like that... I think that it is just "broken" somehow..
well I guess I have to download it again arrgh!

Yes, but not if your sharing your connection with others on your network.. it takes ALL the bandwidth.. but ofcourse you can turn down the speed .. heh

You dont even need to use the "Playa"

The codec should be enough to play in the windows player.

Have you tried uninstalling and then installing again DivX 5.0.2 When you install it, be sure to tell it to install the codec (and not only the player)

did they really say that? i think the artists of morrowind are also capable of this,
but perhaps there was no need for a forests in morrowind ?!....

well, forests are possible to do, no question.
even if you do not have access to such a high polycount like they have in
morrowind.
if you put more time on your textures and a bit more time on research
how to arrange polys the right way, you can do a good looking forest

i personally achieved a polycount of approx. 20000 polys per view.
unfortunately with peaks of 25000 polys
and im talking bout the scenes you see in the video.
when you have a morrowind-like engine, its possible to create a
"nearly" photorealistic forest, believe me.
it only depends on the quality of the textures, and the time you spend on
creating the meshes for the plants.

the only difficult thing in gothic is to place all the plant objects to create a
realistic scene. its hell of a job to place so many objects...
even if you create big objects (not just one farn, but 8 or 10 in one
objectmesh)
this is very timespending, because you will see very (VERY) big forests
in gothic II
so be prepared
