In the last game and this one my NPC's are disappearing, a known issue. But this game has disappearing enemies! In a fight after several rounds they disappear! I can take hits and attack them and they are in the text. Maybe it's time for a reinstall. What files should I transferr to the new install without corrupting it! Saves and character? And where is the fabled V1 patch! I have no number on my disc and Only V1.24 seems available. cheers! |

Yah, reinstall--just copy the whole Saves folder as it is. If your saves have been patched, though, they won't work in an unpatched game. (& it'll mess up your install even worse if you leave them where Sirtech can find them) _________________ If thousand-year-old family traditions are so important to you, why do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in your family's house? |

I had some issues with this occasionally. The big thing NOT to do is move during combat to a location where you can see the "disappear-ed critters"- that caused an instant crash to desktop for me every time.
Finish the current battle, then move a little- the critters will be waiting.
Edit: sorry, upon reading your post closer, we're talking about a different issue. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I'm a little confused. How can you hit them if they've disappeared? Are they invisible in the main screen but appear on the radar?
As is, I can only think of 1 thing I've seen similar. Due to a bug, it is possible for monsters to wind up in solid objects and be unable to move during combat. (I had this happen once or twice in the narrow corridors in Rapax rift.) You could hit them, but they wouldn't respond. If you killed off all other monsters, combat would end - and when you walked towards the trapped monster it would be able to free itself. [I never reported the bug to Sir-Tech, as I could never consistently reproduce it.]
It is also possible for individual enemies or groups to disengage from combat by running away, which I guess might still be in your visible and/or attack range. But if you re-approached these monsters, they would rejoin the combat. So I don't think this is what you're describing. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. My problem could occur if there were several groups of critters. One group would be completely out of sight (around a corner or something) for 3 rounds, which would cause them to drop off the roster and the radar, but they were still waiting. If I walked forward to look around the corner while still in combat, crash! If I completed the combat and then peeked around the corner, a second battle would begin, and all was good. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I had monsters drop off the "roster" as you described, but I never had a crash problem if I caught up to them during the combat. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. Say they'er molai slashers who run in packs of 7-10 on Arnika road. I initiate battle and after several rounds they disappear. The sounds and battle continue, other baddies like plants may join and are visible for a while. Fighting invisible groups is a new challenge and enjoyable till I reinstalled today. I guess I wore out and corrupted the game!
edit: I found patch 001b on file Planet, is this the one for PP?. I'll install another W8 game and start with that patch if It's the One. |

Check the date of the file. I think that 001b was the 04DEC patch, which fixed most bugs but did not kill PP. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Could be that I'm due for a reinstall like Sealight... _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=
