I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but I'm playing through Gothic as a Templar, the last one for me. I did the Test of Faith, but got the extra information added by Lares and then gave the list to Diago. I then wondered if it was still possable to join the Old camp, and tried. It is possible! The walkthrough, I believe, says (or at least hints) that this is not possible. But it seems that you can join the Old Camp, and cheat them of the equipment!

When I tried that, I couldn't. I had done more than enough Shadow quests, but Thorus wouldn't let me into the castle!

Yes, it is possible -- at least if you bribe Thorus (1000 gp and he let you enter) before Test of Faith. |

You don't have to bribe Thorus... Do his little quest the cunning way, and you will get his affection. As to the altered list, Diego never finds that one out, or rather just doesn't tell anybody.  |
