How about a fully-functional first-person viewpoint? Most of my problems with the controls comes from momentarily losing control of the pitch with the mouse and whirling in a circle while monsters whack me.

I'm sure this one has been mentioned elsewhere: How about fighting with a sword in one hand and being able to hold a torch in the other? I'd also like to be able to douse a torch and re-light it later. Or at least be able to drop it without dropping my weapon... or for that matter, I'd like to be able to drop anything from my inventory, if desired.*

* If there's a way of doing this, I've never found it. Enlighten me.

Well, I do not care what hairstyle our hero has, but if the ponytail is one kind of hairstyle of the German-Style, hehe..., we should respect it, anyway, the name of the game is 'Gothic', and the hairstyle is also part of their culture.

Welcome, Trolldung! If you try to use your keyboard instead of your mouse, you will have another feeling of the control. Always, I set W, S, A, D to FRONT, BACK, TURN LEFT, and TURN RIGHT; set UP ARROW to ACTION, DOWN ARROW to JUMP, and LEFT/RIGHT ARROW to STRAFE LEFT/RIGHT. Once you used to it, you will find that the control is pretty easy, have fun!

Torches

You can extinguish a torch if you have other torches in your inventory.
Just click on the unlit torches, and the torch in your hand goes off and
gets added to the stack.

As for dropping items, Alt (Jump) works for me.

Maybe a few more ways of completing the game...

ex.: if you join the militia... you kill everyone in the monastery
if you join the monastery...you get to take over Khorinis
and they have different endings!

(these are not suggestion~~they're stupid... so that everyone can figure out what i mean!)

Yeah! That would be great
But you always gotta talk to the victim, just in case he will give you a bigger reward for killing the one whom want him killed

More swords and armour
Rolling over flour in combat, different tricks with bows and stuff.
More arrows (like bronze, iron, steel?)

Great ideas for Gothic 3

Wow, I'm surprised no one has listed THIS one yet:

How about the targeting system for ranged weapons done-away with and instead your accuracy depend on your skill with a mouse?!

And on the weapons/combat note; I would like to enlighten some on the 'real' world of bladed weapons:

I personally have actually forged a real 2 handed broadsword before (well, machined to be more precise) and the fact is that a well-forged weapon weighs surprisingly VERY little. Although my sword is absolutley sick looking , it is not 'well forged', therefore it's heavy = 8 pounds. Still, I'm a man of average stature and, well let's just say you wouldn't laugh at me if I was holding the thing and looked angry. A WELL-forged weapon of this size (37" blade, 48" overall) would ONLY Weigh around 4 to 5 pounds.

My whole point is this: The skill system in Gothic 2 in which you must develop your strength in order to wield more powerful weapons is very un-realistic. I'm not saying that a person should have access to an uber weapon right from the beginning or anything; I just don't think that 'strength' should have anything to do with weapon wielding. Perhaps they could make a greater damage difference for different qualities of weapons or make it even more difficult to get a decent sword or something. Perhaps they could emphasize the importance of wielding a weapon skillfully, and though you might have an awesome weapon, depending on your skill you may be inneffective in using it.
*feedback welcome*

Okay, now that is out of my system, on to the rest of the list:

3) Shields --- seems to be unanimous doesn't it?

4) I don't need any 'super-moves' like rolls or anything, but I would like slightly more fluid movement for character

5) Ability to take armor off of killed NPC's, but something would need to be implemented in order to keep the player from getting too well protected too quickly -- maybe like -- If you go strolling into the mercenary camp wearing the armor you swiped off of "Joe Merc" and you DON'T belong to their guild, you could be in BIG trouble. Maybe this falls under 'better AI'. Let's try this again:
*ehem*

5) Better AI. Let's say you're with the Militia and you galavanting around the countryside slaughtering scavengers, when you decide to go see what the Merc's are up to. Oh no! Better take that Militia armor off before one of them spots you! Ya' know... something like that.

Holy crap! This message is long!
Sorry ya'll, thanks for listening

Oh yeah, and one more thing...

Granted, I haven't finished Gothic 2 yet, so I don't know how it ends, but it seems like it would be hard to pull off ANOTHER case of a weakling hero you have to build from scratch. How about the ability to import your character into Gothic 3? I don't know how they would make it challenging for newbies as well as imported characters, but that's what you programming guys are for! right?
