Can G2 be played without TNotR? |
|
I heard rumors G2 Gold has to be installed completely, so G2 can no longer be played without TNotR. Could somebody check if G2 starts if the 4th CD is not installed? _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Yes, it can be played. I have The Gold Bundle and first I installed with the first 3 discs. This gave me Gothic 2 to play. A few days later I installed disc 4, this transformed the game to TNotR. A Warning ! Any saved games of the Gothic 2 type will not load under TNotR and freeze your computer, only a hardware reset or switching your computer off gets you out of it ! |

Thanks for the info.
If you want to play both you have to install it two times. First G2, then TNotR -which overwrites G2īs registry entries- and then G2 again in another directory. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

How did you manage to do this? I tried just installing the first 3 cd's but it won't work for me. I get the error message "Please remove disc from current CD/DVD drive and insert the original disc in another drive"
When I install the 4th disc then everything works fine. I know I'm not the only one with this problem as everyone else I've talked also has the same problem. It's not a copy protection issue as I've already checked that possibility.
I wonder how endremat got this to work when no one else seems to be able to do it? |

Iīve seen many people who can play both depending their installation. I bet itīs a CP problem. Maybe JoWooD recycled the old gold masters and used two different CP systems. Iīm not sure if thereīs a legal solution if the usual measures donīt work (check for viruses & spyware, update chipset & IDE drivers, disable DMA, close firewall & virus scanner, uninstall virtual drives like DaemonTools). _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
