Riftrunner renamed to Beyond Divinity

Larian Studios has issued a <a href="http://www.larian.com/riftrunner/press_release_beyonddivinity.php" target="_blank">press release</a> today confirming recent rumors (<a href="http://www.rpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10077&newsid=23837">story</a>) of a possible name change of their 'Divinity' universe based RPG 'Riftrunner'. The game has been renamed to 'Beyond Divinity' to make the link to 'Divine Divinity' more obvious.

I rather liked the sound of "Riftrunner" as a name. Oh, well...

or Beyond The Divine Divide

Seriously, imo, Beyond Divinity sounds like the title of a post mortem(or something) article written by one of those gaming sites on Divine Divinity after it is released.

Whats in a name? If I remember right, people whined about the name "Divine Divinity" when it was annouced as well, only to be treated to a really well made rpg....except for the ending.

The "Divine Divinity" name probably scared off a good many potential customers, but "Sword of Lies" wasn't that great either, there's already a bazillion products/stories with "Sword of Whatever" titles.

Not-a-gain !!!

RiftRunner, opposite to that, would have been really a good name in its own right. And it would have fit better, of course, to what the game´s truly about: The Art of `Riftrunning´!

But noooooo - it has to be the Stupid Stupidity of the oh so merry `rename game´ again!

"Making the name resemble a proximity to `Divinity´ better" is such a hollow motive!

And the combination with "Beyond" makes such an empty phrase!

But this time it seems to be the Larians themselves, "committing the crime"!
It´s just sad, so sad!

Sorry for sounding so harsh, Larians, but there´s no other way to put it, IMHO.

One would have just wished that they´d come up with at least a better "cover to not judge the game by" this time!

Ragon, The Mage

P.S.: If they at least had only renamed it to Divinity: RiftRunner, that´d been an acceptable compromise!

I think Beyond Divinity is a VERY cool title.

Just my opinion, I'd rather be playing the game than arguing about the name, though.

Just marketing types thinking we are too stupid to know what game it is.
