It makes it harder to wait for the next Gothic... but it also makes playing the game after a long wait even more rewarding!

Good analogy!  I experienced that often when playing Gothic. The game is so good I didn't want to get up!  It was always rewarding when I'd finally returned to the game after taking a long leak--it meant I had roughly another 3 hours of undisturbed gameplay before I had to start worrying about wetting myself again!
