question about damage and absorption

Edit:
Ahhh, nevermind - I forgot about enchantment's influence on damge reduction

Orig:
I'm fighter level 14 (at very difficult) and I'm currently fighting Barl Lord (last "obstacle" before one of the words of power). I'm doublesword fighter with reasonable dexterity big strength and many usable feats for me. Plus some magical items. Anyway:

With (double) sword of bao and after drinking some potions directly before fight, I have following stats:

attack +24/+19/+14
damage 1d8 + 11 + 1d6

offhand:
attack +23/+18
damage 1d8 + 6 + 1d6

With some enhanced great axe, I get

attack +26/+21/+16
damage 1d12 + 12 + 1

Note that both weapons are large / slashing type

Now I can easily (well, mostly easily) kill this demon with greataxe, causing around 15 damage per hit and some huge critical damage. But when I use doublesword, despite moderately easy hits, I always get damage resistance absorbs xx damage reduction absorbs xx. Max damage I can deal with those weapons are very similar and both are slashing weapons.

My question - how is damage immunity / resistance computed - does it depend on type of weapon or on models (sword, axe, mace, etc.) as well ? I'm puzzled with that here.

I am not sure of the details in your case, but if memory serves me correctly it goes something like this:

If a creature has damage resistance of +2/10 it means that if you have a +2 (or better) weapon then full damage gets done, otherwise 10 points are absorbed.

So I would guess that the axe has a higher plus than the sword.

Hope this helps.

You're right
That time when I had problem, I finally checked it in manual. My Bao doublesword wasn't enchanted at all if I remember correctly.
