The lever in Alicia's bedroom
   

I looked at the handy dandy RPGDot walkthrough, but it says nothing about the lever.. Although on the map it shows it, opening up something in the middle that I can't figure out how to get to...

When I pull the lever, I hear a portcullis open, and I run around the building looking for an opening somewhere, and have been unable to find it. Hours have been wasted.... PLEEZE HELP MUH!

The sound you are hearing is a portcullis opening up in gary's house, in the cellar. (I think his name is gary. He's her fiance', the banker.) You have to run over there and downstairs to get in.
